Breaking the Cycle of Self-Doubt

I have big, bold dreams for myself, my business and the Style Power vision.

So, I keep coming up against this question: Who am I?

I ask myself this question a lot, it seems.

And I wonder if guys ask themselves this same question.

With each layer of success, as I get closer and closer to this vision actually becoming a reality, it comes up again: Who am I to do this?

Who am I to think that I can create this business? This movement? That I can make an impact on women across the country and possibly the world?

Who am I?

I may squelch it a bit as I feel the question come up again, but then, there it is. But I’ve found it won’t be squelched.

I have to work through it.

And then I get to the next level. I have the space to enjoy the success … for a window of time, at least.

And the question comes around again.

Each time a little bit louder.

Because each time I’m stronger. More confident. More successful. More grounded in my feminine power. More ME.

And so it goes. I get to that next level. I enjoy the space and the success I’ve created. And on and on. Still.

I’ve always believed that great leaders lead by example. They show others the way. Walk their talk. Authentic.

Perhaps this is why this question keeps coming up for me as maybe it has for you and so many women I know.

Perhaps it’s why I have always resonated with this quote so deeply and I know so many women who have as well:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?‘ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Perhaps we’re the last generation that feels this way.

I sure hope so.

So we can break this cycle for the next generation of leaders – male and female.
