Linda Kroll is a therapist, mediator, attorney and a Chopra Certified Vedic Master.

For over twenty years she has counseled thousands of individuals, couples and groups to share Compassionate Communication for better relationships. She also provides Compassionate Mediation for a SELF-led Divorce.

BH: You have quite an extensive and varied background. How did your work around Compassionate Communication emerge? Tell us your story!

Linda: Compassionate Communication is a heart-centered way to connect with yourself and others. The process of Compassionate Communication allows you to heal from the burdens of the past, let go of limiting beliefs, connect to your Spiritual Source and relate from your highest and best SELF.

You heal your “inner child,” release long-held feelings, unhook from habitual reactions and conditioned beliefs, and remember how divine you truly are. You understand how you have “exiled” your fear, hurt and sadness (and sometimes your anger), “managed” with roles that you play so that your ego’s needs are met, and get “extreme” in ways to numb yourself. You practice SELF-leadership, which helps you be more compassionate, confident, calm, courageous, clear, and grateful.

You relate from a more peaceful and empathetic perspective and practice present moment witnessing awareness. You no longer react impulsively, but learn to respond with creative solutions. All of your relationships improve with more love, acceptance and forgiveness.

 

BH: We love your core message of, “Love More and Be Happy.” Tell us more.

Linda: The Miracle of Empathy is a way to relate from your highest SELF as you share your true feelings in a atmosphere of non-judgment and compassion. You learn to use “I” messages, instead of judgmental or blaming “you” messages. You begin to listen and understand and empathize with the experience of another. You convey true compassion and remorse when your actions have hurt someone. Together you then create a plan for relating in the future that meets both your needs.

BH: What are five practices that you recommend for women entrepreneurs to create more happiness in life?

Linda:

1) Remember what you truly want and need (instead of what you don’t want).

2) Know that you deserve all that you want and need (as you unburden any limiting beliefs that undermine your self confidence and deservability).

3) Learn to ask for what you want (rather than withhold, nag, demand).

4) Be willing to receive (and allow the Universe to provide).

5) Stay grateful and watch abundance flow in!

 

BH: How can we let go of burdens from past and limiting beliefs, and what’s possible when we do?

Linda: I work with many couples who come in troubled by what had happened in the past. Each injury or disappointment in the relationship is like a brick in the wall each of them built around their hearts. They are afraid to put the walls down because they don’t want to be vulnerable or hurt anymore.

They each see the other through the filter of what happened in the past or whatever they believe will be projected into the future. (“He “always” does that, she “never” does this.”)

When you learn Compassionate Communication, you learn to relate from your Highest Self, without the need for thick walls or outdated filters. You learn to set appropriate boundaries, and even how to leave if that is in your highest good. You don’t need the walls anymore and you are free to love again.

It’s often difficult to stay loving in any relationship, because we cannot always meet another’s needs. However, other situations make it very challenging to keep your heart open.

When there is abuse, addiction, adultery, or mental illness you need support. Meditation always helps any situation. Counseling (and sometimes appropriate medication) can help couples learn how to relate and communicate compassionately.

When there has been an affair, the one who is betrayed needs time to forgive and rebuild trust. The party that had the affair needs to be willing to be transparent, remorseful, and loving for as long as it takes to heal. Talking about feelings from SELF helps make recovery possible and Compassionate Communication allows the couple to speak FOR all their parts (anger, sadness, fear, guilt) rather than FROM their parts.

With the Miracle of Empathy and learning the Five Steps, healing happens.

When there is addiction, the Twelve Step Programs are truly lifesavers – for the addict and for the family that loves him or her.

You learn to separate the person from the addiction, to connect to your Higher Power and to “take your own inventory” to see how you can become more SELF led with more compassion and empathy. Compassionate Communication allows for the discussion about “what happens next”. When there is a SELF to SELF conversation, you can talk about anything – money, sex, children, responsibilities.

A SELF-led Divorce allows you to discuss all the issues (property division, maintenance, child support and parenting) in an environment of mutual respect and compassion. It helps “restructure” your family, rather than destroy it. It is a time for healing, letting go of the pain, and courageously and compassionately charting a new course for your future.
