How Organized In Business Do You Really Need To Be?
I am a Virgo and people must think all the time that I am super organized.
But the truth is I’m really not.
Just ask my mom. Ask my husband. I am actually a messy, lazy person. If you came to see my office right now there is paperwork everywhere.
But I do think you have to be one thing more than anything else in business.
Consistency in your marketing.
I may not be super organized, but I am consistent, and consistency is one of the most important things that you can have in business.
On my blog and in my social media presence, I’m always very consistent in the look and feel of my videos. I might not always have good hair and make-up – sometimes I miss that but I’m always wearing turquoise or I have turquoise somewhere in the background.
Even the picture quotes that I share have turquoise in them.
Be very consistent in your look and feel. Don’t use all kinds of different stuff all the time unless rainbow pattern is part of your brand.
Be really consistent with the content that you put out.
Someone asked me the other day about batching content and they said, “I wouldn’t feel spontaneous if I batch content and I wouldn’t have any room for creativity”.
Here’s what I said to them:
If I waited until I felt like it I would absolutely not have a business.
If I waited until I felt like writing a blog post, it probably would never happen.
If I waited until I felt like sharing on social media there would be massive gaps for days where I don’t feel like sharing anything.
And you might think that’s totally okay for your business, but what I’ve found is that having consistency means people are waiting for your content. They’re waiting for that information.
If you do it on a regular schedule they will be sitting there by their computer waiting for you to send out your newsletter or your latest blog post.
That consistency is what builds momentum and loyalty for your business.
There are the two things that I think you should really be consistent on:
- Your messaging.
- Your marketing.
So the look and feel and the consistency of how often you put out content.
And remember, you do not have to be organized in business.
You can be as messy and as lazy as you like as long as you embrace consistency.
We’d love to hear from YOU…
