Four Steps to Reinventing Your Life

1. Be transparent and honest with yourself and AT LEAST one other person.

This first step is admitting that you are stuck. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. But as I have said over and over again, “keepin’ it real” with yourself is the ONLY way that any change can occur. Otherwise you’re just buying your own bullshit. That’s a road going nowhere.

Start taking stock of the areas of your life that you just feel BLAH. Admit it to yourself. Honesty with yourself IS the best policy.

Once you do that, share it with someone who you know has your back. More importantly, share it with someone who you trust, and know won’t sugarcoat things. Listen, we all have people in our lives that just tell us what we want to hear. That’s not helpful. At all. Talk to someone who you know understands you AND is willing to tell you the truth, even if it’s hard to swallow.

2. Get clear on your values and priorities.

My father has said to me since I was a young girl, “get your priorities straight.” For the longest time I resisted his advice. But now what I know more than ever is that lack of clarity on your values and your priorities can seriously affect your mental and emotional well-being.

Conflicts in the mind don’t “just happen.” They occur because more often than not we are thinking one thing, saying another thing, and doing another thing. Being in alignment with what is most important TO YOU is the second step to reinvention and the most important. No one can define what your values are but you.

The best way to uncover what your values are is to observe what you spend most of your time doing, talking about, and thinking about.

For me, my number one value is contribution through my business. My family/friends/health comes second. So you know what I am most focused on? Yup. Contributing to people’s lives through my business, focusing on my health through by doing yoga, taking spin classes, dance classes, eating well, and spending time with people I love to be around. It’s that simple.

Getting clear on your values can and will rub people the wrong way especially when you start to “act different.” This is natural.

The actions you take will start to shift as you become clearer on your values and priorities and this can be uncomfortable to witness for the people around you. It’s ok. GET CLEAR ANYWAY.

3. Be relentlessly committed to living your life according to your values and priorities.

The third step is all about taking action (you know I wasn’t going to leave this out). Getting clear on your values and priorities is super important. Taking action that is now aligned with your values is what will make reinvention come life. When you become relentlessly committed to living your life according to your values, you become unstoppable.

You’re clear, focused, and unapologetic about who you are and what you stand for. Nothing and no one can stop you.

Become relentlessly committed.

4. Pay it forward.

The fourth step brings tears to my eyes. If there is ONE thing in this word I am certain of it is this: We are happier humans when we are helping another human.

What does this have to do with reinvention? Well, think about it. Here you are, being honest with yourself, clear on your values and priorities, and taking positive actions that are aligned with your values. What’s naturally going to happen is that you want to share that with other people so THEY can then experience the same level of freedom that you have. It won’t be forced. It will just happen. Happiness and peace are gifts to be shared.

Part of me living in MY purpose is to be there for people and support them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of mentors, family, and friends.

Using the four steps above, you can create a plan to reinvent your life.
