BH: How did you end up doing what you do? Tell us your story!
Share: I went from being a bona fide rockstar in a platinum selling band to being a life coach. And let me tell ya, the path was most definitely not a straight line!
In between those two well defined moments was a whole lot of tough stuff. Divorce. Bankruptcy. Joblessness. Sweeping sidewalks in a coffee shop. Yeah. Life happens. It’s how we respond to the challenges that defines us.
Vixen is the 80’s rock band I’m best known for in the music world and when we broke up in the early 90’s I had to figure stuff out and figure it out fast! I ended up with a series of dead-end jobs and then something clicked. I recognized that I am not my job. I am not my bank account. I am not what I do. I simply am. And that as they say is when it all changed.
Giving myself freedom to do anything I wanted, I began a stream of adventures and explored all sorts of different avenues.
– shiatsu therapist
– knitting book author
– travel agent
– marketing director
– video producer + editor + host
– motivational speaker
– video coach
That’s over a span of a few decades. Couple that with reading a veritable TON of personal development books and diving in whole heartedly to the evolution of one’s own heart and you’re bound to end up somewhere interesting, right?
It became pretty evident during my 4 year period as a video coach that what people were really struggling with were the deeper questions.
“Am I good enough?”
“Does everyone think I’m an imposter?”
“I know I have something to offer but how do I make money with it?”
“I’m doing really well but there’s something more, something bigger inside of me.”
Those were the types of conversations that kept happening over and over again with my video clients! Eventually, someone finally asked me to coach them around their bigger challenges that evolved from those types of questions. And within a couple of months, I had an actual roster of coaching clients.
It took me a while to call myself The Rock n’ Roll Life Coach. I tried Business Coach for a while because I was afraid of not being taken seriously. But I finally saw my own truth. And now I’m happy to say, one of my clients recently did an interview with the Wall Street Journal and when asked how he keeps his edge, he replied, “Share Ross”.
I’m honored to help women and men through periods of transformation. It’s an awakening into a bigger sense of self and a deeper calling. It’s all about discovering your own Inner Rockstar. And let me add… it’s a blast!
BH: What is your ‘Wake Up Call for the World?’ In other words, what is most of the world asleep about that you would love to wake up?
Share: Dream BIGGER.
It continually shocks me how safe and small people’s dreams become with age. It’s like the big dream shrinks! It makes me crazy!
One of the questions that I ask all of my clients early on in the coaching sessions is simply “If you could be, do and have anything in the next 30 days, what would it be?”
The answers are typically terrifyingly tied to practicality and ‘being realistic’. Things like “maybe I could have a new client” or “I’d like to have a day off” or “perhaps I could write a song.”
You experience disappointment and end up with regrets that inform your imagination and your belief in yourself. The underlying feeling is that you don’t dare to dream anymore for fear of even more failures.
I want to shake people into realizing that you need to dream bigger and in vivid color! You get what you believe in so when you stop believing in your dreams, you are helping them to become impossible. It’s scary as hell to keep believing. I get that. Boy, oh boy do I get that. And that is where I come in. I urge, guide, point the way and shine a great, big, glittery light into your deepest love of yourself. I’m honored to help my clients in this way.
BH: What are the biggest challenges or aspirations your clients come to you with, and what does your work make possible for them?
Share: Without a doubt, it always comes back to believing in yourself. Working together, we bust through ‘imposter syndrome’ and I create custom exercises for each client to feel unstoppable.
When you’re in the ‘zone’ your Inner Rockstar comes out to play. And THAT is when you shine. That is when you attract and create your ultimate life. That is when you are in touch with your deepest self.
By working together, my clients have dramatically improved their financial situations and their relationships. It always starts within. ;-)
BH: We’re curious about your breakthrough moment in business. Looking back, what created the breakthrough?
Share: I had a year long period in my early 30’s that transformed me. I went jogging every day up a mountain and chanted “I am, I am, I am” over and over with every single step. It allowed me to recognize that my musician identity that I had so dearly clung to was actually limiting me. It’s been a magical series of adventures that amaze me ever since that moment.
The limitations that happen internally with how we create our own identities is astonishing as soon as you say I am __________. Once you give yourself the freedom to simply BE, your possibilities open up.
BH: What words of wisdom do you have for all the emerging Business Heroines out there who are on the cusp of creating their own purpose-based business?
Share: Always put your mindset first and THEN take action. When you act from the place of already being successful, your actions come from the right place. As opposed to acting out of desperation or from a feeling of lack. The difference is huge.
