Is That Spiritual-Healer-Nicey-Nice Talk Holding You Back?
“Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.” – Barbara Kingsolver
Blog posts, a speech, a monologue, a launch, a brand, a breathtaking book.
You sit down to tune into the thing you’re creating and you’re taught to think like this – “how can you serve? What do your people want?”
Write it/make it/create it for them.
Um yeah, that’s lovely. But what do you have to say?
We live in a culture where almost everything is about the outer, the end result, the goal, the effect, the applause.
Wait. Stop. Hold up.
But what do you have to say?
Let’s look at numbers, lists, popularity, what’s working for others – maybe you should be more like them.
But. What. Do. You. Have. To. Say???
Even the spiritual viewpoint about serving others can be very stifling if it isn’t balanced. And by balanced I mean; you gotta turn this thought upside down.
Shake, shimmy, shazam; serve your soul first… and that will serve exactly who you’re meant to serve.
Selfish? No, yes, maybe. I personally have owned the selfish in me and don’t hate on it like I used to. (If you called me selfish last year, my wounded shadow would bite your head off, spit it out and then hide in shame and sadness). But I digress. Forget selfish.
How about…
Self-love
Self-inquiry
Self- expression
Self-as-in-Soul
Soul- love
Soul-inquiry
Soul-expression
What’s your sacred soul expression?
You’re an artist. A creator. A truth-freaker. Don’t forget that.
My take? Women nurture and give naturally. To the point of exhaustion. And with all the spiritual-healer-serving-giving talk going around, I am noticing that it is slowing my clients down from their FULL message and expression…. and actually keeping them from serving the people they want to reach.
So instead of constantly asking how can I help them; try approaching your gifts, services, expression from this…
