Why You Bury Your Calling Without Even Knowing It

{}

Finding your mission is a big topic and we don’t usually talk much about it because we don’t want to acknowledge that we have one. I have been told many times by different people that they don’t know what they want to do in their life or why they are here. And I’ve found that most of the time.. they don’t want to know. Why?

There are a few simple but very valid reasons for that:

1. To keep us SAFE. Without acknowledging something greater, we feel safe. We don’t want to acknowledge that the life and/or business we currently have doesn’t work for us. We believe that in recognizing this, we might feel failure, and OMG we will have to change THAT… and after that, it’s unknown… Oh, no it’s better to stay where you are… at least you know this reality and it seems it’s working… or does it?

2. To keep us SMALL. We forget about our deep desires and longings and that allows us to stay small. We usually know what we don’t want but rarely know what we DO want. Why is that?  The reason lies in the fact that we have been programmed to keep our desires very deep down, so they never show up. Many people actually don’t even feel, they think they do, but actually they are disconnected from their body such that our feelings are processed through the thinking: they THINK they feel this.
 Even in spirituality, we have been taught that desire is negative, that we don’t need to desire anything. But they forgot to mention one very important thing: the true soul’s desire is the fuel for growth and conscious expansion.

We need to first make a distinction between wants and desires.

When we want something, it usually comes from a dysfunctional place of  lack “I don’t have it” thus what I want will “complete me”. When you feel “wants,” you will have feelings of desperation, frustration, jealousy and not being enough to have it.

Your true desire and longing is the soul’s calling.  It’s showing you the path of what is possible for you to create. Usually these true desires and longing bring more energy and give us a drive to grow, express our being and make our contribution.  But because we have been neglecting it and not listening to our desires by pushing them deep down for long periods of time, we have separated from them so much that when we finally allow ourselves to feel them, they usually come with deep sadness and grief, showing us where we have settled for less.

It’s time to come home to yourself after a long separation.. Would you be willing to allow yourself to feel your desires and what is truly possible for you?  Would you be willing to listen and acknowledge your desires?

What would you choose?
